GRIT: Getzville Rapid Intervention Training
A Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) is a dedicated crew of firefighters assigned for deployment to rescue lost or trapped firefighters. Every year, Getzville Fire hosts a two-day Rapid Intervention Training program, "GRIT", that includes realistic scenario-based training evolutions and incident command system training. GRIT contains scenarios inspired by real-life incidents that resulted in firefighter fatalities across the United States. Scenarios include: fire development, search and rescue, collapse operations, self-rescue, emergency air procedures, etc.
