Explorer Post 111 provides teenagers ages 14 - 18 to experience and learn basic firefighting and EMS skills. The program allows them to gain insight on the fire service and acquire important skills.

These young men and women work alongside the active company and meet weekly to learn and practice basic skills.

Some of the skills learned in this program are: 

  • Basic EMS

  • Hydrant Proficiency

  • SCBA Mask Confidence

  • Scene Support Firefighting Operations


The New York State Fire Academy, in Montour Falls N.Y offers an "Explorer Weekend" which our explorers participate in. Additionally, the Explorer Post has also adopted a section of the Ellicott Creek Bike Path, where their members collect litter and beautify the area.
