Erie County Alerting Network

The Department of Emergency Services is please to announce that the Erie County Emergency Alerting Network infrastructure has been completed, tested and recently accepted from USA Mobility. During our test phase we traveled over 3200 miles on the roads of Erie County and entered over 200 structures that our First Responders identified as requiring pager coverage. We are happy to report that we have exceeded our original requirement of 95% coverage throughout the county. Over 8000 First Responders have already received their pagers and have reported that they have received messages well beyond the county lines in areas such as Batavia, Wethersfield, Franklinville, Ellicottville, Salamanca, Dunkirk and Niagara Falls.

Station house alerting equipment is in to service. Anyone aware of any outstanding issues is asked to contact our Alerting Help Desk at 716-961-7893 or submit an Alerting Equipment Service Request by clicking here. All agencies are urged to please keep all equipment turned on and ready for service at all times.

Dispatch Centers operating off of the county's primary computer aided dispatch program (CHARMS), are in service at this time for the operation of the Alerting System. We are working with the remaining dispatch centers who utilize other various programs to resolve any connectivity or functionality issues they may have in order to continue the implementation of the Alerting System.

After the initial deployment is completed we will begin training agencies with respect to the administration of their own devices. This will allow the designated Alerting System Administrator from each agency the right to add or delete members / devices and or swap devices within their agency. If an agency does not wish to appoint an administrator your devices will be managed through the Alerting Help Desk.

The Alerting Help Desk is established to assist the First Responder's of Erie County with any questions or problems they may have with their Alerting Equipment. By calling 716-961-7893 you will reach a qualified staff member to address your specific issue. When possible we ask that individual members please contact their Agency Administrator for assistance prior to contacting the help desk so that they too are aware of any issues within their department. You may also submit your requests electronically be completing an Alerting Equipment Service Request by clicking here.
